Description

In this webinar, violinist and educator Caron Chan will provide practical insights into teaching left hand technique, specifically in relation to developing finger action, facility, shifting, and vibrato. The webinar will explore principles of a good left hand setup, paving the way for a lifetime of consistently accurate intonation and facility. The webinar will include preparatory and remedial exercises for shifting and vibrato, along with discussion on practice techniques and invaluable scales and studies for left hand development.

There will be a Q&A session towards the end of the webinar, giving attendees an opportunity to ask questions. After you have watched the webinar, you will be able to access your PD certificate. You will also be sent a link to watch the video replay and download any notes or presentation slides.

About the Presenter

 

Caron Chan is the Chief Strings Examiner for the AMEB (NSW). A former lecturer in Violin at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Caron is passionate about training musicians of the highest calibre and co-convened the Australian Violin Pedagogy Conference in 2017 and 2019 in Sydney.

She regularly presents professional development seminars at the Sydney String Centre, for AUSTA (NSW) and at Sydney’s leading independent schools. Caron is currently working on the new AMEB Series 10 Violin Syllabus.

In addition to her work as a teacher, examiner and adjudicator, Caron has performed with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and Opera Australia Orchestra.
