Elizabeth Mitchell

Elizabeth Mitchell undertook undergraduate and postgraduate music studies at the University of Melbourne, leaving Australia in 1979 as recipient of the University's Welsford Smithers Travelling Scholarship. She has extensive experience as a piano soloist and chamber musician, but since her return to Australia in 1983, Elizabeth has been chiefly occupied with teaching. She is an Honorary Senior Fellow of the University of Melbourne, where she teaches piano, and subjects within the Master of Music (Performance Teaching) degree. Elizabeth is an AMEB Board member (Victoria), State Chair of Teaching Diplomas, Chair of the Examinations Advisory Committee, and a Federal examiner for both practical and written diplomas. Elizabeth is a frequent adjudicator for Eisteddfods and competitions locally and interstate, and gives workshops for many organisations. Elizabeth has been actively involved with the Victorian Music Teachers' Association for many years and is a Life Member of the organisation.
